A program combining innovation and sustainability across climate, circular packaging, sustainable agriculture, water management, and inclusion. Quintessa is the technical partner leading strategy, mapping, selection, development, and pilot implementation.

2023-2025 | M-Impact
Social innovation program by the Mining Hub aimed at fostering the development of mining territories through the implementation of impact startup pilots. Quintessa leads the full cycle: (1) identifying local challenges with mining companies and community leaders, (2) selecting startups capable of addressing these challenges, and (3) coordinating the on-the-ground implementation of pilot solutions, ensuring measurable results and scalability potential.
Results:

Riverside access to drinking water: Pilot with MRN identified 3 critical areas in Lago Batata and designed 3 low-cost solution modules, achieving over 95% cost savings compared to previously implemented modules.

Decentralized sanitation: Installation of a biodigester and BET solutions in Jaibara dos Nogueiras, in partnership with Vale’s poverty alleviation program, benefiting 390 people and generating around R$ 8,000 in community income during the pilot.

Waterbody quality: Integrated plan with Samarco to reverse the eutrophication of Lagoa de Mãe-Bá — includes methodology to address internal/external sources, multi-stakeholder actions, and short- and long-term intervention recommendations.
